Pregnant women in Cambodia, schoolchildren in Uganda and Bhutanese refugees in Nepal are also receiving rice thanks to the award-winning site“.

FreeRice is a not for profit site with a very simple but important purpose. By playing the free vocabulary game, where you are given an English word and need to select the correct definition from four different word options, you help fight world hunger - 20 grains of rice at a time.

Think this is silly? Well, besides the benefit of improving your vocabulary, and playing a brain game (words can get challenging at higher levels), with the help of half a million daily visitors, and generous sponsors, the site has donated over 26 billion grains of rice since its inception in October 2007!

Now that’s a lot of rice!
